About the speakers
Prof Claudio Franceschi
Claudio Franceschi is Professor Emeritus at the University of Bologna in Italy since 2016. He devoted himself to the study of human immunology and has held numerous positions including Scientific Director of the Italian National Research Center for Ageing, as well as founding and directing the “Luigi Galvani” Center for Integrated Studies of Bioinformatics, Biophysics and Biocomplexity at the University of Bologna. From 2018 he is the head of the laboratory of Systemic Medicine of Healthy Ageing at Lobachevsky University, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, and he is the author of more than 800 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Prof Patrizia Brigidi
Patrizia Brigidi is Full Professor in Fermentation Biotechnology at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Bologna, Italy. She is Delegate of the Rector for European Research. Her main scientific research activity is focused on the characterization of the human intestinal microbiome, in the perspective of its modulation to promote the host’s health. Currently she leads a number of European and national projecs aimed at studying, by omics approaches, the relationship between diet, lifestyle and intestinal microbiome for the prevention of diet-related diseases and healthy ageing.

Sylvie Binda Chair of the IPA Europe Scientific Group, member of the IPA Scientific Committee, Board member in the Pharmabiotics Research Institute.
R&D Director for Microbiome Program and Bioprocess and Galenic Center at Lallemand Health Solutions since 2020, previously Probiotics Science leader in Danone Research for 12 years, Sylvie was also Fermentation principal scientist in Ajinomoto for 7 years.
Kristine Koppelhus
Director of Scientific and Public Affairs at BioGaia, Kristine is a member of the IPA Europe’s Scientific Working Group and of the IPA global Education and Communication Committee. She has a broad experience in both the food, nutrition, and probiotic industry.
