Our Clinical Team and Collaborators for Advancing Human Health
In addition to sponsoring our own clinical studies, we collaborate with dedicated experts in clinical research and participate in studies initiated by investigators, researchers or clients on Lallemand Health Solutions’ single or combined probiotic strains to provide solid scientific evidence supporting our microbiome-based solutions. So far, our supplements have been studied in over 160 clinical trials, covering various human health applications such as gastrointestinal health, the gut-brain axis, natural defenses, metabolic health, and women, skin and oral health. Our studies include both men and women, and people of all ages, from infants to older adults. Developed and optimized through our rigorous scientific approach, our supplements support various health conditions, all over the world and across different stages of life.

Multifaceted Mission
Our day-to-day mission is multifaceted. Clinical Research Specialists oversee studies to ensure the scientific integrity, safety, and efficacy of probiotic strains and formulations, following international guidelines (ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) E6(R3), Declaration of Helsinki, CONSORT). We integrate innovative methods, focus on key research questions, and effectively communicate across various teams and decision-makers. We stay in touch with other teams and collaborators, bringing everyone together at key milestones to address challenges and implement adjustments to keep our projects on track.
Integrated Clinical Team
We are one of the few players in the industry whose R&D department houses a fully integrated clinical team composed of highly qualified individuals, all deeply passionate about microbiome and probiotics research, who bring diverse profiles and expertise to the table. In-house capabilities allow us to analyze various sample types and biomarkers. Automation enables us to keep pace with the growing number and size of studies, making our products accessible to diverse populations. We actively participate in recognized professional associations, receiving training on essential aspects of clinical research to foster innovation.
Our highly skilled team explores often overlooked research areas, delving deep into understanding probiotic strains and formulas to create clinically based evidence. We collaborate with key opinion leaders (KOLs), universities, contract research organizations (CROs), promising start-ups, and clients to foster knowledge exchange, share expertise and innovate in research. We publish findings that contribute to a better understanding of the microbiome and lead to new health solutions in peer-reviewed journals. We invest in cutting-edge microbiome analysis, including metagenomics and metabolomics, reshaping our understanding of health.
Throughout the years, we have completed over 160 clinical studies. The number of ongoing clinical studies has considerably increased in recent years, reaching over 25 ongoing studies in 2025. All our clinical trials are prospectively registered on ClinicalTrials.gov or other reputed trial registries.
